Abstract: The purpose of the paper is to examine the impact of total quality management (TQM) practices namely “customer focus”, “training and education” and “empowerment and teamwork” on employees’ job involvement, job satisfaction and career satisfaction. The study proposes and tests nine hypotheses on the impact of total quality management (TQM) practices on employees’ job involvement, job satisfaction and career satisfaction. Data is collected from 112 lower level employees working in BPO sector at Chandigarh. The analysis of data is done by using correlation and multiple regressions tests.
The results indicate that “empowerment and teamwork”, and “training and education” have a significant and positive impact on job involvement and job satisfaction. “Customer focus” has a significant and positive impact on job involvement but does not significantly enhance job satisfaction and career satisfaction. TQM practices namely “customer focus”, “training and education” and “empowerment and teamwork” taken into consideration in the study does not significantly enhance employees’ career satisfaction. Population Growth and Economic Development in Rajasthan: A Principal Component Analysis Based Approach
Dr. M.R. Singariya

Lecturer - Economics, Govt. College Jaitaran, Rajasthan, India
Vol. 1(1): pp 16-24 (2012)
Abstract: The paper examines the link between demographic variables and various dimensions of economic development, using district level data of Rajasthan. In Rajasthan, the progress of socio-economic development among districts is not uniform. The paper examines the existing variability of inter-district development and thereby identifying the indicators responsible for the diversity in development. Instead of studying the variability of a particular variable across districts, a composite index based on several indicators has been developed using principal component analysis and districts are arranged according to indices derived using seven broadly accepted components.
The findings of the analysis support the general perception about the districts. It shows Kota on the top with a score of 2.147 in the economic development dimension and followed by Jaipur, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Ajmer. Barmer was the poorest of all, preceded by Dungarpur, Jalor, Banswara, Dholpur and Jaisalmer. It discloses higher the level of economic development lower the level of demographic development. Further, we did multiple regression which explained that first dimension of economic development which includes per capita net district domestic product, share of urban population, literacy, electricity, toilet and current users of family planning methods has had significant and highest negative impact on demographic variables like crude birth rate, total fertility rate and decadal population growth rate. Thus the policy implications to control population growth are clearly highlighted and suggest improving these common minimum needs.

Dr. Swayamprabha Satpathy
HOD, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, S'O'A University, Bhubaneswar, India
Vol. 1(1): pp 46-50 (2012)
Abstract: The great path breaking idea of Servant Leadership put forth by Robert Greenleaf (1977)(9) has reached its fourth decade as a concept and it continues to create a quiet revolution in organizations and subsequently in around the globe. Servant Leadership emphasizes increased service to others a holistic approach to work, promoting a sense of community and the sharing of power in decision making. This is the most important aspect to be found in teachers as they build up the future generation of a country.
The characteristic feature of a leader is in the very word itself as loyal, energetic, amiable, dutiful, empathetic and righteous and if we abbreviate teacher we find along with the said features of a leader there is an additional aspect of a teacher being talented, charismatic and honest. Characteristics ascribed to this emerging approach to leadership include building empathy for others, using highly developed powers of motivation and being able to conceptualize and communicate concepts. Servant Leadership has become a guiding force and has been adopted by various organizations. Since its conceptual inception, servant leadership has been espoused by a growing number of researchers as a “valid theory” of organizational leadership(17) with a great promise for both theoretical and practical development.(1)

Managerial Efficacy through Rounded Life
Dr. Vidhu Gaur
Assistant Professor, Alliance University, Anekal Road, Bangalore, India
Vol. 1(1): pp 57-63 (2012)
Abstract: Highly effective people are not so much brilliant as balanced in their lives. The most successful people tend to lead a balanced life: while they work hard on the job, they also spend time with family and friends. This paper takes somewhat radical position for present time that one can be a success both at work and at home, and that in fact it is the people with the best family lives and the best friendships who eventually make the best mark in their careers. The paper shows ways to find such a healthy balance. The assumption is that certain fundamental principles of achievement will enable one to rise in one’s career and to get closer to the people one cares for. For Tolstoy was right: one can live magnificently if one knows how to work and how to love.
Keywords: Managerial effectiveness, Rounded life, Mutually nurturing relationships, Work–life balance, Person’s elasticity, Domestic collaboration.
